I have been terminated and not offered any termination pay. I may have been asked to work notice instead of receiving any payment. I may have been terminated with the employer stating it was for cause and that nothing is owed to me.

I am a high income earner, I have key responsibilities and authority in my role and may have direct reports and / or am responsible for a specific area of the company. I have been provided a package that appears to satisfy all legal requirements or is in excess of the Employment Standards or may even appear to be a significant sum of money.

I am in a position that requires education and / or specialized knowledge or years of experience. I have skills that have been trained and developed for my role. I may have some additional responsibility and may be in a supervisory type function. My former employer has provided to me a termination package equal to or in excess of the Employment Standards.

I may be in an entry level job or administration or a trade or labour type role. My former employer has provided me little or no termination pay, the minimum payment required by Employment Standard or perhaps a bit more than this as a termination package. The termination notice may not have been provided in writing.
